The Market on Route 66, now located at 29 N. Main Street, is part gift shoppe, part custom studio, and part community crossroads — the kind of place that reveals itself slowly, rewarding curiosity.

The business first opened in Miami about a year ago at 101 Main Street, before relocating in October 2025 to its current home, a move that brought increased visibility and foot traffic.

“Glad for the spot... it offers better foot traffic,” said Teresa Lester.

Lester, who operates the shop, credits Keith from Chapters, the neighboring business, with helping them get settled into the adjoining building, formerly home to Sugies Sandwiches.

That physical connection between the two businesses is more than symbolic. A shared back foyer links the spaces, where visitors stumble upon an unexpected surprise: a small, thoughtfully curated library tucked away from view. It is, as regulars now describe it, a hidden gem.

Inside The Market on Route 66, variety is the point. Seasonal gifts, clothing, and décor share space with an expansive faith-based section featuring inspirational merchandise. The shop also functions as a custom-creation studio, offering services more often associated with much larger operations.

Customers can bring in a favorite image — a simple JPEG or PNG pulled straight from a phone — and have it transferred directly onto shirts or hats. For those unfamiliar with the technical side, guidance is part of the experience. Lester helps customers format images, transforming digital memories into wearable keepsakes.

“Nearly anything in the store can be personalized!”

The Market offers 3D printing, sublimation onto ceramics, and laser printing onto metal, blending modern production techniques with the attentiveness of a small-town shop.

The calendar shapes the shelves. At present, all children’s clothing is marked 50 percent off, while remaining Christmas merchandise is discounted 40 percent, making room for what comes next. Valentine’s items are already en route and expected to arrive any day.

“We are really excited about the new year,” Lester said.

Even from the sidewalk, The Market signals its character. Window art by Shawn McLaughlin frames the storefront, drawing the eye of passersby along Route 66. Inside, the shop reflects a broader truth about Miami itself: that reinvention here is often quiet, creative, and rooted in connection.
