Miami, Oklahoma Police Officer Arrested in Missouri on Multiple Charges

Mount Vernon, Mo. — Landon Cole Corbus, 28, a police officer from Miami, Oklahoma, was arrested by the Mount Vernon Police Department and is currently held without bond in the Lawrence County Jail. He faces charges of domestic assault in the third degree and stealing property valued at $750 or more.


Corbus, who resides in Mount Vernon, Missouri, was reportedly intoxicated when he allegedly assaulted a woman, leading to his arrest.

Connection to Previous Arrests

In his role as a Miami police officer, Corbus was involved in the December 19, 2023, arrest of Robert John Sanko Jr. Sanko was charged with disturbing the peace, and Corbus was listed as one of the arresting officers in the case. View case details on ODCR.

Additionally, according to a report by Sheila Stogsdill for KSN/KODE, Corbus was one of the arresting officers in the recent snd controversial arrest of Leah Sanko. Sanko was taken into custody on January 22, 2025, at Integris ER in Miami, Oklahoma, for alleged combative behavior. She was subsequently charged with two counts of assault and battery for allegedly assaulting emergency medical technicians.

OSBI Investigation

Following her arrest, Sanko sustained multiple serious injuries while in custody at the Ottawa County Jail, prompting an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI). The charges against Leah Sanko have since been dropped, though questions remain about the circumstances of her injuries while in custody. Read more on Four States Homepage.

The Miami Police Department has not issued a statement regarding Corbus’ arrest or his involvement in these prior cases. Meanwhile, OSBI’s separate investigation into the treatment of Leah Sanko in jail continues.

As of now, Corbus remains incarcerated without bond while awaiting further legal proceedings.
