Outdoor Court Repairs

A storm in November 2024 caused damage to the fencing at the city’s tennis and pickleball courts, particularly on the pickleball side.

  • Starting Wednesday, March 20, contractors will replace bent and damaged fence posts.
  • Work is expected to be completed by Friday, March 21.
  • Once the fence posts are in place, the Sports crew will install windscreens beginning Monday, March 24.

“We ask the public to avoid this area for everyone’s safety,” said Miami Sports & Recreation Coordinator Chuck McKibben.

Indoor Pickleball Court Upgrades

The indoor pickleball courts at the Ottawa County Expo Building are also being refurbished.

  • Crews began cleaning and painting the floors on Tuesday, March 18.
  • Pickleball lines will be repainted as part of the improvements.
  • The courts will require a week to dry, with an expected reopening on March 28.

“We ask that indoor Pickleball members avoid playing indoors starting today, March 18. We will have signs posted on the entry doors. Once we get the all-clear for both locations, we will announce those accordingly,” McKibben stated.

Community Support and Future Improvements

McKibben expressed gratitude for the patience and support of local sports enthusiasts.

“We want to thank everyone, especially our pickleball and tennis enthusiasts, for their patience as we maneuver through this process of not only addressing some areas that need to be repaired but also improving the overall quality of life at these facilities.

We also want to thank the many volunteers and local businesses that have donated their time and money in helping the city improve these facilities. It’s partnerships like this that make our community better.”

These upgrades reflect the city’s ongoing commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities and ensuring safe, high-quality courts for all users.
