USPS to Suspend Services on National Day of Mourning

In honor of the National Day of Mourning for former President Jimmy Carter, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will suspend regular mail delivery and retail services on Thursday, January 9, 2025. However, limited package delivery services will continue to ensure essential deliveries are made on time.

President Carter, who passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100, was the 39th President of the United States and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. His death has prompted a period of nationwide mourning, with federal institutions closing or operating on reduced schedules.

For residents in Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, and Arkansas, this closure will affect daily routines, as there will be no mail delivery, retail services, or office activity on January 9. Post offices will resume normal operations on Friday, January 10.

Customers are advised to plan accordingly and check the USPS website for more updates and information on package delivery services during this period. Local post offices are available to assist with any questions residents may have about their mail during the National Day of Mourning.
