MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Stardust Power Inc., an American developer of battery-grade lithium products, officially broke ground on January 22, 2025, on its lithium refinery at the Southside Industrial Park in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
"Stardust Power's decision to break ground on its lithium refinery in Muskogee is a significant step forward for Oklahoma's role in reinforcing our critical mineral supply chains and bolstering national security," said Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell. "This project not only strengthens our state's position as a leader in sustainable energy, but it also creates hundreds of good-paying jobs and drives economic growth for our communities."
The $1.2 billion facility is being constructed on a 66-acre site near the Port of Muskogee and is expected to produce up to 50,000 metric tons per annum of battery-grade lithium upon completion. The project will be developed in two phases. The first phase will focus on constructing a production line capable of producing up to 25,000 metric tons per annum. The second phase will add another production line, doubling the capacity to 50,000 metric tons per annum.
"This groundbreaking is another example of Oklahoma leading the country in energy innovation," said Evan Brown, Executive Director of EDGE. "Stardust Power Inc. is investing $1.2 billion in Muskogee, Oklahoma, because they know we are the most business-friendly state in the country, and our history as an energy-producing state creates a perfect environment for their business to thrive."
Once fully operational, the refinery is expected to create hundreds of high-paying jobs in engineering, manufacturing, and operations, significantly contributing to local economic growth. By establishing the facility in Oklahoma, the company aims to strengthen the U.S. supply chain for critical minerals and reduce reliance on foreign nations for rare earth elements.
"With continued support from the State of Oklahoma, we are moving forward with becoming one of the country’s leading suppliers of battery-grade lithium. Stardust Power is proud to play a key role in safeguarding America’s critical mineral interests and supporting Oklahoma’s economy," said Roshan Pujari, Stardust Power Inc. Founder and CEO.
