Emergency Shelter Opens in Miami: How You Can Help

The Oklahoma Emergency Response Team (OKERT) has opened an emergency shelter in Miami, Oklahoma, to provide warmth, meals, and comfort to those in need during these challenging winter months. Located at First Christian Church across from Walmart, the shelter will begin operations at 6:00 PM tonight, January 6, with dinner served at the same time.
How You Can Make a Difference
We believe in the power of community, and there are countless ways for you to help:
Donate Essential Items
- Gently used or new blankets, sheets, and pillowcases
- Approximately 15 new pillows
- Men’s and women’s sweats or scrubs (all sizes)
- Bottled water and orange juice
- Plastic utensils and paper towels
Volunteer Your Time
Your time and care are priceless. The shelter is still in need of volunteers to assist with operations, as well as groups or individuals willing to prepare an evening meal. To volunteer or provide a meal, contact Rick at 918-541-6056.
