Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt Visits Taiwan for Energy and Aerospace Trade Mission

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt traveled to Taiwan on Monday for a trade mission focused on energy and aerospace. During the visit, Governor Stitt met with President Lai Ching-te to discuss potential areas of collaboration between Oklahoma and Taiwan in critical industries such as energy, critical minerals, and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and drones. He also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Minister of Economic Affairs, Jyh-Huei Kuo, to foster stronger trade and investment ties between Oklahoma and Taiwan.


“This Memorandum of Understanding between Oklahoma and Taiwan will enhance trade and investment opportunities between Oklahoma and Taiwan drone and UAS companies,” said Governor Stitt. “Oklahoma is the most business-friendly state in the nation, and our energy industry provides critical stability and economic opportunity around the world. The Taiwanese people share Oklahoma’s love of freedom. I look forward to working together to increase trade and investment opportunities in aerospace and energy to advance prosperity for both the people of Taiwan and Oklahoma.”

Governor Stitt’s trade mission also includes stops in South Korea and Japan. During his time in Taiwan, he engaged with a variety of companies interested in bringing investment and job opportunities to Oklahoma. The governor emphasized Oklahoma’s energy advantages and business-friendly environment during discussions with top Taiwanese officials.

Oklahoma has been strengthening its relationship with Taiwan through various initiatives, including trade missions and proposed agreements. Governor Kevin Stitt's visit to Taiwan on an energy and aerospace-focused trade mission highlights a strategic aim to boost collaboration in these sectors. 


Additionally, there have been discussions about establishing a trade office in Taipei to promote business exchanges between Oklahoma and Taiwan, highlighting the longstanding sister-state relationship established in 1980. 

This ongoing partnership reflects a mutual interest in fostering economic growth and technological advancements, with a focus on sectors like aerospace, energy, and agriculture.
