An officer-involved shooting occurred this afternoon in Miami, Oklahoma, resulting in the death of an armed male suspect. Interim Police Chief Todd Hicks provided the details in an official statement.

“Two separate 911 calls came into the Emergency Operations Center at 3:55 p.m. today, Dec. 27, 2024, of an armed male subject under the influence attempting to break into an apartment at a complex on C SE Street,” said Hicks.

Here’s what is known so far:

  • Three Miami Police officers responded to the calls at an apartment complex on C SE Street.
  • Officers encountered the armed suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.
  • Despite repeated commands, the suspect failed to comply.
  • Shots were fired, and the suspect was injured.
  • The suspect was transported to Integris Hospital’s emergency room, where he later died.

“The Ottawa County District Attorney was notified, as well as the OSBI (Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation) for further investigation,” Hicks confirmed.

The OSBI will lead the investigation to ensure transparency and accountability. Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

  1. How many gunshots were fired during this presumption of this victim being under the influence?. No tasers deployed no pepper spray no nothing like that it was 100% straight on aliveing this young man. This county is crooked and needs reformant. The officers involved should not be on paid administrative leave due to them not rendering a service as they are receiving beneficial gains. All officers should take a hair follicle test to make sure that they were in the proper mindset operating under the manner of commerce as a public servant. Without prejudice towards me please and thank you this town hates me already for the constitutional accident I'm speaking up against that they violated
