Coalition Urges Action on Energy Permitting Reform Before Congressional Session Ends

WASHINGTON — A coalition representing 80% of U.S. domestic oil and gas production has called on House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to advance the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 before the 118th Congress concludes.

The Oklahoma Rural Association issued a statement acknowledging the time constraints but emphasizing the importance of the reform.

"While there is likely not enough time for this to happen, we strongly support permitting reform as a key step in unleashing American energy production and lowering prices for consumers," the group said. "It should absolutely be a top priority of the incoming Trump Administration and the next Congress."

The coalition's appeal highlights growing industry pressure for permitting changes to boost domestic energy production and address consumer costs.
