ANDERSON, Mo. — Authorities continue searching for answers in the disappearance of an elderly McDonald County couple who have not been seen or heard from since mid-September.

Leo Lester Lindeman, 73, and Katherine Marie Lindeman, 74, of the Anderson area remain listed as missing through the Missouri State Highway Patrol Missing Persons Clearinghouse. The Highway Patrol lists Sept. 15 as the date of last contact for both.

The McDonald County Sheriff’s Office is the investigating agency.

The couple was reported missing to authorities Sept. 24 after family members became concerned about the lack of contact. Their small white dog is also reported missing.

Investigators have since carried out several searches around the Lindemans’ rural property using law-enforcement personnel, drones and search dogs.

Approximately 15 acres surrounding the residence had been extensively searched by the beginning of October, according to published reports. Search operations included multiple drones and several trained search dogs.

Authorities also obtained a search warrant for the Lindeman residence.

McDonald County Sheriff Robert Evenson previously told reporters that investigators examined the home for fingerprints and collected electronic devices and trace evidence as part of the investigation. Details concerning the evidence collected have not been publicly released.

The Lindemans’ vehicle remained at their residence as of the most recent reporting.

Investigation Expands to Records

Investigators have also been working to examine records that could help establish the couple’s movements and activity around the time they disappeared.

Evenson told reporters earlier this week that authorities were preparing to obtain the necessary warrants to examine the couple’s banking activity.

As of Oct. 3, it has not been publicly confirmed whether those records have been received or whether they revealed any activity after Sept. 15.

Authorities also have not publicly disclosed whether investigators have obtained cellphone carrier records, location information or call-detail records for either Leo or Katherine Lindeman.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to list both Lindemans as missing. The Highway Patrol’s public missing-person information identifies the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office as the investigating agency.

Missing Persons Descriptions

Leo Lester Lindeman, 73

No verified public information has established where the couple went following their last known contact. Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or announced evidence establishing what happened to the Lindemans.

The status of searches beyond the approximately 15-acre area surrounding the residence has also not been publicly confirmed.

Questions remain concerning whether additional Missouri State Highway Patrol resources have been assigned to the investigation and whether any federal agency has been asked to assist.

The case remains active.
